Volunteer and Staff
After months of being away from the hospitality center of International Seafarer Ministry in Port Miami our staff and volunteers met together. We shared testimonies about how the Lord brought us through the pandemic. We listened and sympathized and prayed for one another. We shared lunch together and continued to enjoy fellowship in the Lord.
As I looked around the room, I was amazed to consider the diversity of the group. All are strong Christians who worked to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the dozens of seafarers that visited Port Miami. One is a retired school principal from Egypt who focused on hospitality. She was constantly, welcoming the crew members as they entered the ministry making coffee, offering cookies. She was a “mother”, “grandmother” figure to the young seafarers.
Another volunteer is a retired army chaplain. He has a special concern for the Security officers and the Sheriffs Deputies working at the port. He has a firm personality and stands for what is right. But he has a soft heart and he is ready to help others find forgiveness and grace.
