Christmas at PortMiami
Each year our ministry organizes a heartfelt gift-giving program for the seafarers who visit our port, the cargo ships that can’t come to our offices, and we even go to the smaller cargo ships on the Miami river. The holidays can be an especially tough time for these sailors, who spend months away from their loved ones, navigating the open seas. Our gift-giving initiative is more than just a program; it’s a beacon of hope and joy that brightens their spirits during this challenging time.
Imagine the smiles on their faces as we present them with thoughtful gifts! The seafarers look forward to this moment—it’s a joyful celebration filled with laughter, love, and connection. Don’t just take our word for it; check out our social media and photo gallery to see the joy in action!
This year, our program consists of two parts: small gift bags for those who visit us at the center and large boxes filled with goodies for about 30 seafarers on cargo ships who can’t leave due to time constraints. With October upon us, we’re gearing up to prepare these gifts, especially since some ships will be sailing for up to 100 days and won’t return before the holidays.
We need your help to make this happen! Your contributions—whether monetary donations, items, or your time—are invaluable. Monetary donations are especially impactful as they allow us the flexibility to plan and purchase needed items.
This holiday season, we aim to gift over 100 boxes and more than 800 gift bags! Here’s how you can help:
Other Items Needed:
- Chocolate, Panettone, Coffee, Tea, Snacks, Mixed Nuts, Toiletries, Water Bottles, Books, Movies, Journals, Sketchbooks (in bulk quantities)
- Christmas themed Gift Bags: We need 800 of these!
- Handwritten Holiday Cards: We’d love to include your warm wishes!
- Volunteer Time: Join us in assembling the boxes!
Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these seafarers, reminding them that they are loved and not forgotten. Thank you for your generosity, and may God bless you for your support! Let’s spread joy and hope this holiday season!
