Welcome to Miami, Port Ministries!!

This year we were blessed to have the annual Port Ministries International Conference take place in Miami, where 12 Port Ministries were represented from all over the nation. We even had the international presence, as two ministers visited us from Port Ministries in Germany and The Netherlands!

The conference was held from June 25 to June 28. It began with a beautiful welcome dinner as guests settled in, then each day it opened with time of praise and prayer. We were blessed to hear presentations from multiple speakers from different ports, where we heard teachings and exchanged ideas on other ways the ministry can help seafarers , how to work with the Ports and about upcoming projects.

Brother Mark Johnston, from the Florida Baptist Convention, brought a teaching from Hebrews 10:25, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another…” with the message that we need each other, and to “Build Partnerships” as a vision of how to work together in our communities. We also heard from Sandy Wisdom-Martin, who is the executive director-tresurer of the national Women's Missionary Union (WMU) in Birmingham, AL. and from Dr. Cindy Townsend who spoke on spiritual tenacity in tough times. Dr. Townsend is currently the Minister to Women at FBC, in Jackson, MS and has served as Director of Women's Missions and Ministry for the Baptist Conventions in LA and MS. Every teaching that the speakers shared was of tremendous help and knowledge of how to grow and better serve in our Ministries

The group also toured the Miami ministry’s facilities and was able to see our operations and meet some of the seafarers. For a little restful break and entertainment, some of the pastors and team members went to tour the city of Miami, visiting the Bayside Marketplace, which is a beautiful shopping and entertainment area that sits in downtown Miami on Biscayne Bay. From there, they hopped on a boat ride around the bay and toured many of the islands and sights!

We closed with a tremendous service attended by pastors and leaders from the churches of Miami. The final meeting was in the church of Granada, where we heard a tremendous teaching about the responsibility of reaching the multitudes and the opportunity to reach the last corner of the earth through the Ministry of Port.

The conference left us motivated and energized, it was an honor and a great pleasure to host the 2024 PMI Conference!
